1995 FA Cup Final Everton v Man Utd
Everton's 1995 FA Cup success crowned a quite remarkable season in the club's illustrious history.
Not many teams suffer such poor league form that they dispense with the services of their manager...and then go on to win the FA Cup in the same season under the new man! But that's exactly what happened to The Toffees in the 1994-95 campaign.

Mike Walker was sacked in the November, with Everton really struggling, but the arrival of Joe Royle was the catalyst for a dramatic upsurge in fortunes that peaked in the May sunshine at Wembley.

Manchester United, the Cup holders, were the red-hot favourites to retain the trophy, but Everton had already showed that they were no respecter of reputations when they thrashed Tottenham Hotspur in the Semi-Final.

They carried that same determination into the Final and took a first half lead when Graham Stuart's effort came back off the crossbar and Paul Rideout headed the rebound past Peter Schmeichel and into the net.
United, who just a week earlier has been pipped to the Premiership title by Blackburn Rovers, were desperate to avoid the 'double runners-up' tag, but Joe's Blue Army were not to be denied. With Dave Watson and David Unsworth forming an impregnable central defence, and Neville Southall in typically excellent form behind them, Everton held on for a famous victory to bring the FA Cup back to Goodison Park for the 5th time in the club's history.
